Passengers who have not linked their Aadhaar card to their IRCTC accounts will be unable to book reserved railway tickets between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm on the first day a particular train’s bookings open. Ticket bookings typically open 60 days before the date of departure.
The move is aimed at streamlining the booking process and curbing fraudulent activities.
The railways are introducing the rule in three phases. The first phase began on December 29, during which unverified users were barred from booking tickets between 8:00 am and 12:00 pm on the opening day.
With the second phase now in effect, the window has been extended from 8 am to 4 pm.
The final phase will commence on January 12. From that date onward, passengers without Aadhaar-linked IRCTC accounts will be unable to book tickets on the opening day from 8 am until midnight. (UNI)
