IRCS organizes first-aid awareness programme at PGCL

JAMMU, Mar 11: On the occasion of 54th National Safety Week, a first-aid awareness programme organized by The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) was held here today.
The programme was organized in collaboration with Power Grid Corporation Ltd (PGCL) under the supervision of Rohit Khajuria, General Secretary, IRCS.
This annual observance aims to raise awareness about safety measures across industries and workplaces to promote accident prevention and ensure employee well-being.
Team Red Cross, Dr Kavita Nijhon, Medical Officer, Ravi Kant Magotra, Sup Pharmacist and Vironica Marwah, Field Officer conducted interactive sessions, demonstrating life-saving techniques such as Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, wound management and transportation of a patient, animal bites and handling medical emergencies in office settings.
Speaking at the event, S J P Singh, Chief Manager, Transmission Line Maintenance/ Disaster Management System appreciated the efforts of Indian Red Cross Society and reiterated their commitment to promoting safety standards.
He also emphasized the importance of first-aid training in ensuring a safe and prepared workforce.
“By empowering employees with first-aid knowledge, we contribute to a safer working environment and potentially save lives during emergencies,” he stated.
Approximately 50 employees actively participated in the session, engaging in hands-on training and Q&A discussions.
IRCS continues to organize such awareness programs across different sectors to promote a culture of safety and preparedness.
In the financial year 2024-25, total 4,551 persons have been trained which includes school students, college students, employees of different corporate houses, government Institutions, commercial vehicle drivers and volunteers.
