Irate people block NH against water scarcity at Ghagwal

SAMBA-Sept 29: The irate people including men and women of Ghagwal blocked Jammu-Pathankote National Highway at Ghagwal for 45 minutes today in protest against water scarcity in the area.
Raising slogans against the PHE Department, SDM, Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar Ghagwal, the protesters  said that tehya re facing compelte water scarcity for last one week with authroties at the helm of affairs have failed to restore the same.
The protesting ladies alleged that they visited the office of SDM and Tehsildar, Ghagwal for redressal of their drinking water problem but both the officers were not present in their office.  AEE, PHE visited the Dugwell and did not bother to lsiten to the ladies who had assembled there demading restoration of water supply. Instead of lsitening to the problems of the women, he fled from the spot which infurated them    and they blocked the National Highway. The male members of the area also joined them later. Seeing the situation going out of control AEE rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the agitating mob but in vain.
Sarpanch Ghagwal Vimla Devi who was leading the mob threatened the administration and PHE that if the problem will not be sorted till tomorrow, they will block the National Highway again. Due to the blockade of National Highway, there were long queues of vehicles on both the sides of it.
