JAMMU, Apr 1: In a major crackdown on illegal betting, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four individuals involved in IPL gambling in the Gandhi Nagar area.
The police also seized Rs 2 lakh in cash along with multiple gadgets used for betting.
A police official said acting on a tip-off, a police team raided a house in Shastri Nagar, Jammu, where the accused were caught placing bets on a live IPL match.
They were found with Rs 2 lakh in cash, eight mobile phones, a laptop, five notebooks, and an LED TV used for streaming the match, he said.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Veer Singh Slathia, a resident of Shastri Nagar; Karan Slathia, a resident of Patolli Gurha Brahmana; Rajesh Slathia, a resident of Patolli Gurha Brahmana; and Adish Raina, a resident of Dogra Ground, Gandhi Nagar.
The police official said that on seeing the police, the accused attempted to flee but were swiftly apprehended.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 78/2025 U/S 112 BNS has been registered against the accused at Gandhi Nagar Police Station, and further investigation is underway, added the police official.
