JAMMU, Aug 21: Department of Linguistics & Literature, School of Humanities and Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu, with the support of Tarak Sewa Sanstha, Varanasiand Bayaar Foundation Lucknow, is organizing two – day international seminar on “Text, Tongue and Technology: the Changing Face of Humanities” from today
Dr Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Education, Govt of India was the chief guest at the inaugural event. He spoke about the relevance of the topic with regard to the linguistic diversity of India and the role of Government in the promotion and reservation of the regional languages from across the India with the help of the Digital tools.
Prof Monika Sharma, Dean Humanities & Liberal Arts, Cluster University of Jammu, highlighted the relevance of technology integrated studies. The concept note was delivered by Dr Reena Salaria, Hod Linguistics.
The keynote address was delivered by Senior Professor Abhilasha Singh, Department of English and Foreign Languages, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak. She spoke about the digitalization in the subjects of Linguistics and Literature followed by relationship between modern and ancient languages.
The presidential address was delivered by Vice Chancellor of Cluster University Jammu, , Prof K S Chandrasekar, who highlighted the importance of technology with the entailed repercussions of the same.
Professor Umapati Dixit, Kendriya Hindi Sansthan Agra, Ministry of Education, GoI; Dr Rahul Awasthi, book author Kolkata; Professor J N Baliya, Professor Monika Sethi, Dr Amitabh V Dwivedi, Dr Serhii Petrenko, Prof Veena Gupta, Prof Vandana Sharma, Prof Shushant Mishra, Dr Om Prakash, Professor Kavita Rastogi, Dr Loic Renoud, were the distinguished speakers in the subsequent plenary sessions conducted in the seminar.
The inaugural session was attended by Ankur Mahajan, Registrar, CLUJ and Presiding Officer of the event, Dr Twinkle Suri, Dean Academic Affairs-the Chairperson of the Seminar, Controller of Examinations, Dean Research Studies, Dean Students Welfare, Deans of various faculties of CLUJ, and Principals of Constituent Colleges of CLUJ and Principals from various Degree Colleges of Jammu.
