International Women’s Day celebrated with great enthusiasm

JAMMU, Mar 8: International Women’s Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm today by various educational institutions and other organizations across Jammu and Kashmir.
To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Regional Centre Jammu and Kashmir, organised a week-long Henzay Wanwun Workshop, culminated here today.
The occasion was graced by Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Dean of Research Studies, University of Jammu, as the chief guest, in the presence of Shruti Awasthi, Regional Director, IGNCA RC J&K and noted Kashmiri scholar and Henzay expert Pushkar Nath Raina.
Addressing the participants, Prof Neelu Rohmetra appreciated the dedication of the women participants and observed that the Kashmiri Pandit community, despite migration and displacement, has continued to preserve its traditions with remarkable resilience.
She especially praised the confidence and commitment of Kashmiri Pandit women in safeguarding this rich oral heritage.
Shruti Awasthi underlined the importance of preserving and promoting cultural traditions such as Henzay as vital bearers of community identity and heritage, especially among younger generations.

On the occasion, the District Employment and Counseling Centre, Kishtwar, under the guidance of Director Employment J&K, Harvinder Singh and supervision of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Pankaj Kumar Sharma organized a Self-Help Group (SHG) Mela at GHSS Bhatta, Block Palmar.
The event was graced by MLA Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar, as the chief guest and ADDC Kishtwar, Vinod Kumar Behnal, as the guest of honor.
Around 100 potential entrepreneurs participated, along with representatives from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
The Women Development and Empowerment Cell (WDEC) of Government College for Women, Udhampur organized a series of events to mark International Women’s Day under the guidance of Convener Dr Geetanjli Rajput.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr Kamaldeep Kaur. Neetu Sharma, Child Protection Officer, Social Welfare Department, Udhampur, delivered a lecture on “Bal Vivah Mukt Bharat”, while Yasmeen, Chairperson, Child Welfare Committee, spoke about Mission Vatsalya and provisions under the POCSO Act.
A seminar on “Give to Gain” was adjudged by Dr Shivani Suri Verma, Mushtaq Ahmad and Dr Swati Dutt.
Sunakshi secured first position, Tania second and Nisha third. The Poetry Recitation Competition was judged by Prof Varun Sharma, Prof Pooja Bharti and Prof Safina Chowdhary, with Shrishti securing first prize, Priya second and Tania third. The Role Play of Sheroes was judged by Dr Sushma Kumari, Prof Shama Rani and Prof Manju Bala.
Janvi secured first position, Ayushika second and Neha third, while Riya received a consolation prize.
Principal Prof (Dr) Nalini Pathania highlighted the importance of financial independence for women. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof Simran Khajuria.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Reasi under the aegis of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology-Jammu (SKUAST-J) celebrated the International Women’s Day.

Youth Talent Search (YTS) celebrated International Women’s Day at JK Montessorie School with great enthusiasm and participation from teachers of various schools.
The programme began with the Lighting of the Lamp by the dignitaries. Bouquets were presented to the honoured guests including chief guest Nidhi Sharma, renowned journalist, social reformer and Chairperson Child Welfare Committee (Juvenile Justice Board) Reasi and guests of honour Rajyogini BK Kusum, Saras Bharti and RJ Juhie.
The celebration started with a melodious welcome song followed by a welcome address by Esther William, Principal Alexander memorial school and a brief introduction of Youth Talent Search.
Rajyogini BK Kusum also conducted a short meditation session and shared spiritual thoughts highlighting the importance of inner strength and the role of women in building a positive and harmonious society.

State Bank of India, Local Head Office, Sector 17, Chandigarh celebrated International Women’s Day with a series of activities aimed at promoting wellness, empowerment and inclusivity among employees.

On the occasion of International Women’s Day, Movement Kalki – The Future Thinkers organized a grand programme.
Addressing the gathering, Deepak Singh, Founder of Movement Kalki, said that the primary objective of the organization is to establish Dharma in society and eliminate Adharma.
The chief guest Dr Ajay Sharma, SP South, said that it is the moral responsibility of every citizen not only to respect women but also to stand with them so that no one dares to commit any wrongdoing against them.
