JAMMU, July 10: Two-day online international webinar on `Human Values & Human Rights Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic: Elevating Through Educational Interventions’ was organized by Centre for Assessment & Evaluation, School of Education, Central University of Jammu under the aegis of PMMMNMTT Scheme, Department of Higher Education, Govt of India.
The inaugural session of the web seminar was graced by CUJ Vice Chancellor, Prof Ashok Aima; Prof Rajnish Sumar Shukla, Vice Chancellor, Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University as a chief guest and Prof Lokesh Koul, Professor Emeritus Himachal Pradesh University Shimla, who was a keynote speaker.
Prof Rajnish Sumar Shukla, said that we are living in new conditions and circumstances due the Covid Pandemic through which we can realize that human existence is more important than anything else in the world. “This pandemic has raised a very big question on social and interpersonal relation in the society specially in the field of Social Sciences,” he said and also gave an insight that there is a rise of new normal condition in the whole world after the pandemic, which leads to transformation in various fields namely trade mode, new consumers, literature, religion etc.
Prof Ashok Aima , said that the current situation has brought huge disturbance but the survival of human depends upon the tendency to tolerate the shock or problem. He said that there is need to reflect the human values in the curriculars discourse and implementation.
Prof Lokesh Koul described the concept of values in various context namely psychological, philosophical, educationist, sociologistic etc. He also stated that Indian culture is very much fused with human values in the form of Truth, Goodness and Beauty.
About 250 participants attended the international web-seminar. Earlier, the welcome address and description was given by Dr J N Baliya, Head, Department of Educational Studies CUJ &Programme Coordinator (PMMMNMTT). Dr Ritu, Associate Professor, CUJ proposed the formal vote of thanks.
Later on, in the preceding sessions, eminent experts from outside the country and within the country in their respective field of expertise acted as resource persons. In two technical sessions, about 19 paper were presented on the first day of the seminar.
