JAMMU, May 12: Swami Vivekananda Medical Mission (SVMM) Charitable Hospital, Ambphalla (Jammu) celebrated International Nurses Day with deep reverence for the dedication and compassion of its nursing staff.
Observed under the global theme “Our Nurses. Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies,” the event served as a vibrant reminder of the vital role nurses play in the delivery of quality healthcare.
The celebration was graced by the presence of hospital leadership, including Anil Gupta (president), Amar Chand Gupta (senior vice president), B B Gupta (general secretary), B S Jamwal (secretary), Mohan Singh Chouhan (treasurer), Subhash Gupta (member), Dr Sachin (member) and Dr Romesh Gupta (administrator).
In their addresses, the dignitaries emphasized that nurses are the backbone of patient care and an embodiment of selfless service. Anil Gupta praised the dedication and resilience of the nursing staff while Dr Romesh Gupta highlighted the growing leadership role nurses play in shaping patient-centered care and community outreach.
The management committee of the Hospital honoured Anita Jamwal (Matron), along with the entire nursing staff, in recognition of their exceptional service and unwavering commitment to patient care.
Meanwhile, on International Nurses Day, Dr Nazir Hussain, district president of the NHM Employees Association Kishtwar, said, “Nurses are the backbone of our healthcare systems. Their compassion, dedication and tireless service make a profound difference in the lives of countless patients every day.” He emphasized that investing in nursing professionals is essential for building a healthier and more equitable society.
While speaking to the media, Dr Nazir highlighted, “Nurses have not only been caregivers but also leaders, educators and advocates for better health. They continue to be a guiding force through every healthcare challenge.” He called on policymakers, institutions and society at large to recognize and support the immense contribution of nurses.
