International Literacy Day celebrated

JAMMU, Sept 8: Internati-onal Literacy Day was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm.
Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh Srinagar today celebrated 51st International Literacy Day (ILD) as Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) with special emphasis on “Adult Education in J&K” in collaboration with State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA) SBM, J&K. On the occasion, Secretary School Education, Farooq Ahmed Shah was the chief guest, while Director School Education, Kashmir Dr GN Itoo, Joint Director (SLMA) T Dolkar, State Coordinators, (SLMA) Syed Imran, Manmeet Bali, I/C SBM Srinagar, Nazir A Sofi, Principal, GGHSS, Kothibagh, Romina Qazi, lectures, teachers, students and spectators were also present.
To aware the students about the importance of education in their life Mount Litera Zee School, Tarore Bridge, Jammu Samba Highway celebrated International Literacy Day in which all students participated and some students spoke on the topic related to the importance of education and literacy and carried the message ‘Each One Teach One’. A special assembly was organized in which students’ recited poem and expressed their views regarding importance of the day. A short rally was flagged of by the Chairman of MLZS AK Kapoor, in presence of the Director Rahul Kapoor and the Principal Sundeep Arora. The students also donated very various stationary items to Basic Academy at Rahya, Samba.
Saakshar Bharat Mission (SBM) Poonch celebrated International Literacy Day in the premises of DIET Poonch, which was presided over by Satpal Sharma, Vice Principal, DIET Poonch. All the district co-ordinators, block co-ordinators, preraks and volunteers took part. Nodal Officer, SBM, DIET Poonch Ramesh Sharma, Kirat Singh, Subash Khajuria, Ram Saroop Sharma, HoDs, Shakoor Ahmed, Lecturer BLSS mendhar also expressed their views.
