International Human Rights Day observed

JAMMU, Dec 10: The International Human Rights Day was observed by various organisations here today.
The Law School, University of Jammu, observed International Human Rights Day with an awareness session and human rights pledge ceremony.
The event featured student-led discussions on contemporary human rights issues and challenges, led by Misba Choudhary and Shagun Manhas.
Dr. Rajneesh Khajuria provided an insightful introduction to the significance of Human Rights Day, while Dr. Monica Narang, Coordinator, PG Diploma in Human Rights & Duties Education, highlighted the evolution of human rights jurisprudence since the inception of Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).
Dr. Seema Rohmetra, Director, The Law School, emphasized human dignity as the core of human rights.
The program was coordinated by Dr. Nitan Sharma.
Govt. Degree College Kathua, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), organized an awareness programme, focusing on critical issues such as police brutality, discrimination, and the violation of civil liberties and human rights.
The event featured distinguished resource persons, including Dy. Chief LADC Puneet Kumari, Assistant LADC Nishant Singh and Rajesh Kumar, who delivered insightful sessions aimed at fostering awareness and empowering students and participants to understand and uphold their rights.
The programme was conducted in cooperation with the National Service Scheme (NSS) units of the college and was skilfully coordinated by Dr. Yash Paul Sharma, Head of Urdu Department. The initiative took place under the able guidance of the college Principal, Prof. Seema Mir.
The NSS wing of Government Degree College (GDC) Bishnah observed the day under the patronage of the Principal, Dr. Shallu Samyal.
The event was celebrated with the middle-wing students of Government Higher Secondary School Bishnah. The students listened attentively and posed thoughtful questions to the volunteers regarding the celebration.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks to the school staff.
Department of Political Science, Government College for Women (GCW) under the able guidance of the principal, Dr. Nalini Pathania, organized an awareness Lecture cum Quiz programme on “World Human Rights Day”.
Principal, GCW Udhampur, Dr. Nalini Pathania was the Chief Guest on the Occasion. She congratulated the Department of Political Science for conducting such an informative Programme.
She also advised the students to remain vigilant about their rights and respect the rights of others as well so that together we can create a world where everyone feels safe, valued and protected.
J&K Legal Services Authority also organised an awareness programme on “World Human Rights Day.
This programme was organized under the chairmanship of Chairman DLSA Samba, Ravinder Nath Wattal and under the supervision of Secretary DLSA, Samba Sandeep Singh Sen.
Secretary DLSA, in his speech deliberated upon the theme and importance of the day.
Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Versha Anthal, Assistant Legal Aid Defense Counsel, Samba.
