JAMMU, June 4: Aimed towards ensuring public preparedness and awareness, a special interactive session organised by former IGP Johnny William was held here today.
The session organized to bring together a wide spectrum of society, including members of civil society, senior bureaucrats, former Generals, IAS officers (including the former Chief Secretary), leading advocates, doctors, educationists and prominent women of the society.
The event focused on public safety, crisis preparedness and the need for unified civic response in uncertain times.
Lt General R K Sharma delivered a detailed presentation on safety protocols and public behaviour during emergencies.
He emphasized the importance of staying calm amidst reports of migration and panic, particularly when misinformation or fake news circulates rapidly.
“Discretion and vigilance are vital,” he said.
Former Chief Secretary B R Sharma shared insights from his extensive experience in public administration, elaborating on the Government’s contingency plans for uninterrupted supply of essentials like food, medicine and fuel.
The deputy director of SDRF (State Disaster Response Force) presented the planned civil defence operations, which were widely appreciated for their clarity and structure.
The session concluded with a call for citizens to remain alert, follow verified news channels and Government advisories and play a proactive role in community safety.
