UDHAMPUR, Sept 9: Udhampur Police has busted an inter-state gang of robbers, which was involved in extortion of the victims on the highway.
The arrested accused, identified as Lal Chand of Fridabad, Mohd Irfan of New Delhi, Shri Nath of Allahabad and Asgar Ali of MP, were involved in extorting Rs 90 thousands from one Vinod Kumar of Chattarpur MP when he along with his family member was on way from Leh on September 7.
Informing this to media persons, here today, SSP Udhampur, Raees Bhat said that on reaching near Railway Station Udhampur, a white coloured car bearing number DL3CAS/4274 stopped near the complainant and offered lift. The accused in the car
told complainant that they were also going toward Railway Station Udhampur. However, after covering a small distance, all the 4 accused in the said vehicle forcibly snatched Rs 90000/- and ATM card from the complainant and threw the victim from the vehicle before fleeing away.
On this information, a case FIR 420/2017 U/S 382/RPC was registered at PS Udhampur and investigation was started by Inspr Sanjeev Gupta, SHO PS Udhampur under the close supervision of Kameshwar Puri, Dy SP Hqrs Udhampur. Subsequently, a police party led by SI Khyatiman Khajuria, I/C PP Roun Domail, noticed a noticed a suspicious vehicle coming from Udhampur side towards Roun Domail. The said vehicle was stopped at the naka and during checking all the four accused along with the cash (Rs. 90000) and ATM cards were arrested on the spot and vehicle seized.
