Inter-district vehicle theft gang busted in Miran Sahib, four held

JAMMU, Aug 2: Police in Miran Sahib area today claimed to have busted an inter-district vehicle theft module with the arrest of four accused involved in stealing, dismantling and selling vehicles as scrap.
A police official said acting on leads in case FIR number 94/2025 registered under section 303(2) of BNS at Police Station Miran Sahib, a police team raided a shed at Meen Charkha, Bari Brahmana and found a man, Mohammad Younis of Smailpur Kothri, dismantling a stolen vehicle.
According to him, the police team got to know from the accused that he was operating the racket along with five other individuals.
Accordingly, he said, Younis and his three associates-Bikram Singh alias Bikki of Simbal Camp, Mohammad Yaqoob of Bari Khad, and Zakir Hussain of Kralpora, Handwara-were arrested, while two others, identified as Mohammad Hassan alias Raju of Majheen and Sukhwinder Kumar alias Billa of Bansultan, Miran Sahib, remained at large.
The police official said, during the raid, police found that a truck recently stolen from Basti Govindpur, Simbal Morh, was being dismantled and loaded into a suspicious Tata Mobile.
“The vehicle’s engine and chassis numbers are under verification,” he said.
He said, two more persons-Mohit, a scrap dealer, and Sajad Hussain, brother of the main accused (Mohammad Younis)-have also been found involved and are absconding.
“Police have recovered several parts from the stolen truck, and further recovery operations are underway,” added the police official.
