JAMMU, Oct 3: The Inter District UT Level Competition of Swimming for the AAG age group girls commenced at the Indoor Public Swimming Pool (IDPS) Chowadhi, here today.
The event was inaugurated by DYSSO Jammu, Sukh Dev Raj Sharma and is organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports. The competition aims to provide a platform for young swimmers from across J&K to showcase their talent and secure selection for upcoming competitions. Approximately 60 participants from various districts took part. DYSSO Jammu encouraged athletes to compete with dedication and sportsmanship while distributing medals and certificates to winners and runners-up.
In the U-14 category, Manha Parvaiz (Jammu) won the 100m freestyle, followed by Saesha (Jammu) and Haigun Kour (Samba). Mitali Raj (Jammu) topped the 50m freestyle, with Sakeena Sajyad (Budgam) second and Dishita Choudhary (Jammu) third. Hangun Kour (Samba) won the 100m breaststroke, while Marya Thakur (Jammu) secured first place in both the 50m backstroke and another 50m freestyle event. In U-17, Vanshika (Jammu) claimed the 50m breaststroke and Hitanshi Yadav (Jammu) won the 100m backstroke. Aadys Sharma (Jammu) emerged victorious in the 100m freestyle and Tegmeet Kari (Jammu) won the 50m freestyle. In the U-19 category, Vamika Parmar (Jammu) and Hadiya Munib (Budgam) secured first place in the 50m backstroke and freestyle, respectively. The competition continues to foster sportsmanship and talent development in the region.
