JAMMU, Aug 11: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) District Jammu today inaugurated the Inter-District Division Level Football Tournament for U-17 Boys at Khel Gaon, Nagrota.
The tournament aims to provide a platform for young footballers to display their talent and secure selection for upcoming higher-level competitions. During the inaugural event DYSSO Sukhdev Raj Sharma interacted with the players and encouraged them to play with discipline and sportsmanship.
The event is being conducted by a team of departmental experts including Ajay Kumar (Convener Technical Committee), Taran Paul Singh, Rohit Gupta, Gurbachan Singh, Raman Sharma, Arun Jamwal, Rahul Bakshi, Naresh Kumar and Ajay Wadara.
In the opening matches: District Samba beat Udhampur by 4-0, Poonch edged past Rajouri in a tie-breaker, Doda defeated Reasi with an unbeaten by 5-0 score, Kishtwar outplayed Kathua by 2-0 and Jammu beat Samba by 3-0. Nine districts of Jammu Division are participating, featuring over 160 budding footballers in this highly anticipated sporting event.
