Inter College Table Tennis Championship gets underway at JU

JAMMU, Aug 23: The Inter-College  Table Tennis (men and women) Championship began  at  Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, here.
Prof Avtar Singh Jasroita, Director Sports  & Physical Education, JU inaugurated the tournament and interacted  with the players  and  officials on the occasion.
Others present on the occasion were Manish Charak, Suman Lata, Prof Sandeep, Charanjeet Singh, Pardeep Kumar, Anil Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Tanvir Ahmed and Dr Gurvinder Singh.
In the matches played today, GGM Science college drubbed MBS College by 3-2; GDC Paloura beat MAM College by 3-2; MIET College defeated GDC Hiranagar by 3-1; YCET Jammu trounced GDC Rajouri by 3-1 and GDC Kathua thrashed GDC Reasi by 3-0.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid, Meenu Ragesh, Asad Sharma, Gourav Sharma, Rekha Ratra and Tanvir Singh.
The Tournament was organised by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Meanwhile, on the second day of  the Inter-College Chess Championship organized by the Directorate  of  Sports and  Physical Education, University of  Jammu, the  players displayed extraordinary skills and showed composure to grab the top slot.
In women section, GDC Kathua defeated GDC RS Pura by 4-0 points and GCW Kathua beat MIET Jammu by 3-1 points, while in men’s section, GDC Udhampur outplayed GDC Reasi by 3-1 points, GDC Kathua beat GDC Rajouri by 3-1, PG Department blanked GDC RS Pura by 4-0, GGM Science College beat MIET by 3-1, GDC Samba beat  Govt SPMR College of  Commerce by 3-2 points and Govt MAM college  drubbed GDC Hiranagar by 3-1 points.
Prominent among  others present  on the occasion  were  Prof BD Sehgal, Dr Sumit Dubey, Engineer Anil Gupta, Tanvir Ahmed, Rakesh Kumar  Menia, Dr Mandeep Singh and Dr Rakesh Sharma.
