JAMMU, May 13: Social activist Balvinder Singh while appreciating the intervention of MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh for ordering audit of oxygen and ventilators in the Government Medical College (GMC) here to ensure equitable distribution for needy patients, stated that it may sound unwell but it is true that JK UT officials of H&ME instead of installing ventilators, received 400 under PM cares fund and send most of them to CHCs, PHCs, NTPHCs and Sub District Hospitals knowingly that these institutions don’t have the required infrastructure to install these ventilators and make them functional.
“It is possible only when such institutions should have 24X7 electric backup , oxygen generation plant, trained technician and at least two Anesthetic Doctors to perform their duties round the clock”, he added.
He stated that the officers sitting at the helm of affairs decided to send ventilators at such places where they are lying defunct and shall remain unused for the years to come.
Singh further stated that he has already made this submissions before MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and Lt Governor, two days ago, through tweet to direct the officials of Health Department to bring back all ventilators and install them in GMC Jammu and other Medical Colleges of Jammu Division so that patients can get benefit of them as presently most of the people are dying in GMC due to non available of sufficient number of ventilators.
“In the present pandemic, most of the COVID patients admitted are highly dependent on high flow oxygen”, Balvinder Singh said and urged upon MoS PMO Dr Jitendra Singh and Lt Governor to initiate enquiry and make everyone, irrespective of his position/status including the Financial Commissioner H&ME accountable and fix responsibility.
