JAMMU, July 24: Shri Amar Kshatriya (Rajput) Sabha demanded to install Maharaja Gulab Singh’s statue at Rotary of Kunjwani and opposed the resolution passed by Jammu Municipal Corporation regarding installation a statue of someone else at the site, without consulting with NHAI.
“Even as the former Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Farooq Abdullah had announced for the installation of the same at Kunjwani in the year 2002 and thereafter a sign board was installed at there for the installation of Maharaja’s statue but during the widening of the road, the sign board was removed by NHAI with assurance that soon the statue would be installed there,” said Sabha in a statement issued here.
The Sabha further said that after protracted correspondence and due recommendations of the then Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sudhanshu Pandey and Col MK Jain, then General Manager (Tech) Project Director NHAI PTU Jammu had requested to Manoj Sharma General Manager (N-3), NHAI to allow the Authority for installation of the Maharaja’s statue at Kunjwani, but after lapse of several year, the statue is yet to install there.
