Srinagar, Aug 2: Government has ordered an inquiry into “allegations” levelled against the District Mineral Officer (DMO) Pulwama, who is also holding additional charge of DMO Kulgam.
As per an order issued by the Department of Mining, Nisar Ahmad, Joint Director, Geology & Mining, Kashmir, has been appointed as the Inquiry Officer.
“The inquiry officer shall submit the report along with recommendations to the Government within a period of 15 days…”
As per details, the move follows a formal complaint lodged by CPI(M) leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, regarding illegal mining and is likely linked to FIR No. 21/2021 registered in this regard.
Tarigami’s complaint, referred through D.O. No. MYT/MLA(K)/331-2 dated May 29, 2025, has apparently led to this action. However, the specific nature of the allegations has not been disclosed in the order.
