Injured wild cat rescued by local youth in Kandi

RAJOURI, Jan 19: In a commendable act of compassion and awareness, a group of local youth travelling to Koteranka came across an injured wild cat on their way.
Recognizing the severity of the situation, the youths promptly informed the Tehsildar Koteranka, the local police station, and the Wildlife Protection Department to ensure the animal’s rescue and rehabilitation.
Responding swiftly, Tehsildar Koteranka, Sahil Ali Shah, along with Amit Sharma, Warden of the Wildlife Protection Department for the Rajouri-Poonch region, reached the site. The injured wild cat, believed to have been involved in an accident, was carefully secured and provided with initial assistance by the Wildlife Department team.
Shah appreciated the timely action of the youths and emphasized the importance of community involvement in protecting wildlife. “Such proactive efforts reflect the growing awareness among locals about the importance of wildlife conservation,” he said.
Amit Sharma commended the youths for alerting the authorities without delay. He assured that the injured wild cat will receive proper medical care and be released back into its natural habitat once fully recovered.
