SRINAGAR: Two militants were killed when alert troops foiled yet another major infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
This is the fourth infiltration bid foiled at LoC in north Kashmir since Wednesday. With these two militants, the total number of infiltrators killed since Wednesday has risen to nine.
Official sources told UNI that troops noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side of border from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) at Uri sector in Baramulla this evening.
However, when challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened indiscriminate firing with automatic weapons. The security force retaliated ensuing in an encounter, they said, adding two militants were killed in the initial exchange of fire. (AGENCIES)
