JAMMU, Nov 2: A female baby of age about one and a half year who had received multiple injuries in border shelling in Ramgarh sector, today underwent surgery here at Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
Identified as Pari, daughter of Rakesh Kumar, resident of Rangoor Camp (Ramgarh) had yesterday received multiple splinter injuries in her abdomen due to heavy shelling by Pakistan in Ramgarh sector. The severity of her injuries can be gauged from the fact that her intestines were badly damaged due to splinters.
Perturbed over the serious condition of the baby, the family members first took her to Army Hospital Satwari but due to lack of facilities the doctors at Army Hospital referred the child to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, where a team of doctors successfully operated her this morning.
According to Medical Superintendent, GMCH Jammu, Dr Ramesh Gupta, the baby was operated upon this morning for ‘Exploratory Latropomy’ by a team of doctors including Dr Narinder Singh (Pediatric Surgeon), Dr Ankush and Dr Chander (General Surgeons) and Dr Heena (Anesthesia).
On condition of the child, he said that she is under observation of doctors in ICU and will remain there for 2-3 days, as there are high chances of post-surgery complications in infants.
