Industrialists being put to harassment: Dogra

JAMMU, June 19: President Association of Industries Gangyal, Jammu Rattan Dogra has alleged that local micro/small unit holders are being tortured due to indifferent and unrelenting attitude of the state authorities at the helm of affair to suitably resolve the genuine grievances of the local units.
In a press statement here Dogra said that Industries and Commerce Department in order to hide its failure to seek the restoration of the competitive edge through State Fiscal Package is continuing the threats of retrieval of land under the possession for more than four decades of local micro/small units. Such ill conceived moves have borne out of the I&C Deptt’s failure to identify and develop fresh/new infrastructure for rapid industrialization.
Ironically there is no set of fiscal incentives either for existing or ensuing units. Due to lack of developed infrastructure no worthwhile investment is expected and such move is specifically aimed at diverting the attention from the ill conceived Industrial policy of 2016 as well as 2017 Industrial policy guidelines.
Association of Industries on numerous occasions has sought the attention of the Govt towards the anomaly that instead of projecting the grievances of local micro/small units and seek favourable redressal thereof, Industries and Commerce Deptt advocate and thrusts the view point of other Deptts upon the local units totally against the concept of ‘Ease of doing Business’. Despite repeated assurance that the local micro/small units shall be continued to be provided with competitive edge after the GST regime. Almost two years after the imposition of GST, no solution is in offing.
“AOI believes this has borne out of the unrelenting attitude of the parent I&C Deptt. AOI considers it pertinent to elaborate that the then political Govt. had assured to provide State Fiscal incentives even upto the extent of Rs 2000 crores for restoration of competitive edge of local units. As such valuable assurance appear to have been vanished largely due to the failure of I&C Deptt to properly advocate the cause of local industrial sector to seek adequate fiscal package by the State Govt,” Dogra maintained.
He said due to callous and industrially unfriendly attitude and behaviour of the state Govt big houses which had shown their inclination to establish their units in the region have already shown their reluctance and shifted their proposed units to more industrial friendly states. This is bound to have adverse counter effect upon the development of vendor/ ancillary units.
AOI once again invites the attention of the Governor for his personal attention to urgently listen to the woes of the local Micro/Small sector and take proper remedial measure.
