Industrial Tour of Kathua Campus for MBA students concludes

KATHUA, Sept 26: The 2-day Industrial trip of MBA students of Kathua Campus concluded here yesterday.
During these days students visited Sharman Spinning Mills (P) Ltd, Vardhman Spinning Mills and  Hero Cycles Limited in Ludhiana.
On the first day students visited Sharman Spinning Mills (P) Ltd a leading manufacturer and exporter of Shawls. Manager Production, Mr Dammi, showed students the production, weaving and printing processes in the production of Shawls and other fashion clothing. Later on, Mr. Sukhjit Singh, (GM-Weaving) shared his experiences with the students and the future prospects in the textile industry.
During the visit to Vardhman Spinning Mills, B.D. Bhardwaj, Senior Manager – HR, interacted with the students wherein he informed that they are the leading producer of Knitted Yarn in India because of quality and innovative product range in the Knitting Yarn category.
P P Gupta, Manager, R&D, co-ordinated the visit, during which he explained the whole process of manufacturing the Knitting Yarn and thread, at Vardhman.
It is pertinent to mention that Vardhman Spinning Mills is a leading textile conglomerate in India having a turnover of $700 mn. Under the dynamic leadership SP Oswal, Chairman Vardhaman has evolved through history from a small beginning in 1965 into a modern textile major. Spanning over 24 manufacturing facilities in five States across India, the Group business portfolio includes Yarn, Greige and Processed Fabric, Sewing Thread, Acrylic Fibre and Alloy Steel.
On the 2nd day of the visit, students visited Hero Cycles Limited. Anil Jain, Dputy Manager- Personnel, Hero Cycles, gave presentation on the rich history and the steep growth of the company. Mr. Jain told that ambitions, belief, empathy and a strong culture of sensitivity are at the heart of Hero Cycles brand. Each of these values reflect in the company’s products, its communication and its dealings with suppliers, employees, dealers and customers. He emphasized  that  leadership at Hero Cycles  is all about capturing the hearts and minds of the people- the way a true Hero always does. Jain showed the whole production process at Hero Cycles. Later on, Sharma-(GM -HR) shared his experiences at Hero Cycles.
According to Professor Neelu Rohmetra the industrial visit for the MBA students at Kathua was preceded by these students participating in AIMA- Management Aptitude & Skills Test (MAST) on September 23, 2012, the result of which will be declared in the first week of October, 2012.  She informed that the scores and the CVs of the qualifying students will be shared by the organisers with the leading companies like JK Cements, ITC Lifestyle, Larsen & Toubro, Sanjiv Goenka Group, Parle Biscuits, Moser Baer India, Nokia, Britannia, Fabindia and Mother Dairy etc for further placement opportunities.
The students were accompanied by Naresh Sharma and Vishal Sharma faculty members of Kathua Campus.
