JAMMU, July 4:  An urgent meeting of Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA) was held under the presidentship of Annil Suri in which the members raised serious concern about the condition of roads and drains in the industrial complex.
During the meeting it has been pointed by the members present that Government of India has provided crores of rupees for up-gradation of Infrastructure facilities in the industrial complex, out of which, major amount has been spent but the civil wing of SIDCO has failed to utilize the funds in proper way.
The members in the meeting said that the first pre-monsoon rain for 15 minutes has turned the industrial complex in to garbage dump. Due to blockage of drains and culverts the rain water has entered in the premises of numbers of units located near the KC Chowk due to which the unit holders suffered huge losses as it was impossible for the staff and workers to enter the premises due to accumulation of garbage outside the units.
The condition of main road is also in bad shape as the Executive Engineer (civil wing) SIDCO Bari Brahmana has granted the permission to private Telecom Operator for the digging of road by ignoring the apprehension of BBIA that the condition of the main road may be deteriorated further. The telecommunication net work of BSNL was also damaged by the contractor while digging, resulting into frequent disruptions in the communication of industrial sector.
It is the need of the hour to take immediate steps for the restoration of damaged roads, drains, culverts, cleaning of main drains on war footing basis and immediate stoppage of digging work by the private telecom operators to save the industrial complex in the coming rainy season.
The members present in the meeting also requested Chief Minister Omar Abdullah as well as Industrial Minister to kindly issue necessary orders for the restoration of work for smooth working of industrial units in the complex.
