TAIPEI, Aug 1:
Taiwan stocks ended flat on Wednesday as losses in computer plays, down 2.12 percent, offset gains in car makers and department stores, up 2 percent and 1.76 percent respectively.
Casing maker Catcher Tech, which supplies Apple Inc, fell by the maximum allowed 6.9 percent for a second session after reports that it had cut its third-quarter revenue forecast and slashed capital spending.
However Mediatek was limit-up, after the chip designer lifted its full year smartphone chip shipment forecast by 26.7 per cent, according to media reports.
The main TAIEX index fell 2.53 points to 7,267.96, after opening down 0.38 per cent.
Electronics shares fell 0.43 percent and financials slipped 0.2 per cent.
The Taiwan dollar was up by T$0.050 to trade at T$29.96.
Foreign investors were net buyers on Tuesday, bringing down their total selling to T$47.14 billion this month.
