Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation preparing new layout plan for mosque to be built in Ayodhya

LUCKNOW, Sep 25 : After failing to receive a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the layout plan of the mosque to be built in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, the Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation has begun the process of re-drafting a new design proposal based on Awadhi and local architecture.
This new design will be submitted to the Ayodhya Development Authority (ADA) for the NOC Very soon.
A trust member stated here on Thursday that the mosque will be designed keeping in mind the sentiments of the local community and population.
Although the decision to submit the new design was made last year, no action has been taken with the local development authority to approve the old building plan.
The Indo-Islamic Cultural Foundation is managed by a group of eight trustees, headed by Zufar Ahmad Farooqui as president and Athar Hussain as secretary.
Hussain said that those who have been in contact with our president and have expressed interest in supporting the project have suggested changing the design. We will prepare a new blueprint with the help of industry experts and resubmit our application.
He further said, “On behalf of the Trust, we will request the state government to build a wide road to reach the mosque site in Dhannipur, Sohawal.”
The previous design was based on the designs of mosques widely adopted in Gulf countries, but Trust officials said the new design will be based on the basic principles of building such structures in the Awadh region.
Five acres of land have been earmarked for the mosque, but Hussain said a large portion of the land will be used to build a museum dedicated to Maulvi Ahmadullah Shah of Faizabad, who fought the British in the 1857 rebellion and is considered a symbol of Ganga-Jamuni culture.(UNI)
