India’s Post-Op Sindoor strategic choices

Sir,
Vishal Sharma’s article rightly highlights that India must now recalibrate its military and economic strategies post-Op Sindoor. The stunning success of the operation has exposed the multi-layered threat posed not just by Pakistan but its backers-Turkiye and China. India’s preparedness for a two-front war, rapid weapon indigenisation, drone mass production, and air defence upgrades must be immediate priorities.
Equally, India must weaponise its geo-economic power. Turkiye’s investments in critical infrastructure and China’s market access need reassessment in light of their military support to Pakistan. Trade diplomacy with the US, UK, and EU must gain urgency to diversify economic dependencies. This is a pivotal moment for India-to solidify its deterrence through military self-reliance and to leverage its vast market as a strategic tool. Strategic autonomy must now become the cornerstone of national policy-militarily, diplomatically, and economically.
