India’s foreign policy gains importance amid US-Iran-Israel ceasefire: Dr Tahir

JAMMU, Apr 8: In the backdrop of a fragile ceasefire between the United States, Iran and Israel, BJP spokesperson for Jammu & Kashmir, Dr Tahir Chowdhary, on Wednesday said that India’s balanced and practical foreign policy has made it a strong and trusted voice for peace in today’s tense global situation.
He was speaking after reports that the United States and Iran have agreed to a two-week temporary ceasefire, stopping weeks of intense fighting that had pushed the Middle East close to a larger conflict.
While Israel has supported the pause in attacks on Iran, it has clarified that the ceasefire does not apply to its ongoing operations in Lebanon, showing that the situation is still sensitive and uncertain.
Dr Tahir Chowdhary said that such global tensions highlight the importance of India’s independent foreign policy, which focuses on dialogue, diplomacy and national interest.
He said India has always supported peaceful solutions to international conflicts and has maintained good relations with all sides, while also protecting its strategic and economic interests, especially in key regions like the Strait of Hormuz.
“India’s foreign policy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is based on the principle of ‘India First’. It ensures balanced relations with global powers without compromising the country’s sovereignty,” he said.
