JAMMU, Nov 11: Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks, Priya Sethi today said that India Travel Mart Jammu will provide the much needed fillip to revive the tourism industry in the State.
The Minister said this while visiting the venue for ITM Jammu being organized by the India Travel Mart in association with Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department from November 12 & 14 at Jammu Convention Center.
Priya Sethi said it was the dream envisioned by the former Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed to make Jammu and Kashmir one of the topmost tourist destinations in the world and this event is a step towards fulfilling that vision.
During her visit, the Minister reviewed preparations being put in place for successful launch of the first ever travel mart in Jammu. She directed concerned officials to organize Jammu and Kashmir pavilion in such a way as to increase its visibility to the participating audience.
Priya Sethi also discussed the arrangements made regarding the tour programme being organized to familiarize the participants with various tourists’ vistas in Jammu and the manifold services being offered under the tour packages available to general public.
The Minister also instructed the concerned officials at Jammu University and Central University to bring the students enrolled in their MBA- Hospitality and Travel Management programme for an exposure visit to this event to provide the students an insight into the functioning of the industry.
The ITM Jammu is a Business to Business event that will see participation from over 100 units associated with travel and tourism industry. This event will feature exhibits from Bihar tourism, Jharkhand tourism, Uttar Pradesh tourism with Gujarat tourism and Chhattisgarh tourism being the partner States for this event.
The Minister was accompanied by Director Tourism Sushma Chauhan, Director Protocol Majid KA Drabu, Managing Director Cable Car Corporation Shamim Wani and other officers and officials from the concerned departments.
