JAMMU, Jan 15: The Indian Army marked the 77th Army Day by organizing a series of initiatives across Jammu region to honour its veterans and Veer Naris, reaffirming its commitment to their welfare and well-being.
The week-long celebrations highlighted the Army’s deep gratitude for its retired personnel and their families while addressing their grievances and providing essential services.
The Gurj Division spearheaded outreach programs in Samba, Kathua, and Pathankot, where troops visited the homes of veterans and Veer Naris to honour their service.
Medical camps were also organized in collaboration with the Army Medical Corps and civil administration, offering essential healthcare tailored to the specific needs of veterans, particularly the elderly.
Gallantry awardees, including those who served in landmark operations, were felicitated for their bravery, emphasizing the nation’s respect for their contributions.
In the districts of Poonch, Rajouri, and Reasi, interactive sessions were held to resolve pension-related issues and inform veterans about welfare schemes.
Services such as digital life certificate updates, ECHS/CSD card renewals, and guidance on pre-recruitment rallies were provided.
These events also emphasized the role of veterans in motivating youth to join the Armed Forces and contributing to social cohesion.
Grand rallies in Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban witnessed enthusiastic participation, with over 566 ex-servicemen, 16 Veer Naris, and 45 widows attending.
These events served as platforms for camaraderie, enabling participants to share their experiences and discuss welfare concerns.
The rallies also featured exhibitions and information sessions on government policies and Army welfare initiatives.
The GOC, CIF (Delta), addressed the gatherings, emphasizing the Army’s dedication to ensuring that ex-servicemen and their families receive the respect and care they deserve.
At Bhadarwah, Cdr 9 Sector Rashtriya Rifles inaugurated a Sparsh Sewa Kendra at Sarna village.
This service center, established at the Battalion Headquarters of 4 Rashtriya Rifles, provides defense pensioners with access to post-retirement facilities through the SPARSH online portal.
During the event, the Commander held a darbar with ex-servicemen to address their grievances, reinforcing the Army’s commitment to its extended family.
Across all regions, these initiatives served not only to honor the sacrifices of veterans and Veer Naris but also to strengthen the enduring bond between the Army and its retired personnel.
Through its outreach efforts, the Indian Army reaffirmed its role as a pillar of support for its veterans, celebrating their invaluable contributions and ensuring their voices continue to be heard and respected.
