NEW DELHI, Mar 2 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday strongly condemned the recent attacks on Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, expressing solidarity with both nations and calling for the urgent restoration of peace and stability in West Asia amid escalating regional tensions.
In separate posts on X, Modi said he held a “productive telephone conversation” with Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, during which he conveyed India’s unequivocal support.
“India condemns the attacks on Bahrain and stands in solidarity with its people in this difficult hour,” the Prime Minister said. He also expressed gratitude to the Bahraini leadership for ensuring the safety and well-being of the large Indian diaspora in the Gulf nation. “I thank him for the steadfast support extended to the Indian community in Bahrain,” Modi added.
In another high-level outreach, Modi spoke with Mohammed bin Salman, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Saudi Arabia, to discuss the evolving security situation in West Asia.
“India condemns the recent attacks on Saudi Arabia in violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Modi stated, underlining New Delhi’s firm opposition to actions that threaten regional stability. He said both leaders agreed that the “earliest restoration of regional peace and stability is of utmost importance.”
The Prime Minister also thanked the Saudi leadership for safeguarding the interests of the Indian community during the ongoing crisis. “I thanked him for looking after the well-being of the Indian community in these difficult times,” he said.
The telephonic conversations come against the backdrop of sharply rising tensions in West Asia, with cross-border strikes and retaliatory actions heightening fears of a broader regional conflict. India, which maintains close strategic and economic ties with Gulf nations, has consistently called for restraint, dialogue and respect for sovereignty.
With millions of Indian nationals living and working across the Gulf region, ensuring their safety remains a key priority for New Delhi. The Prime Minister’s outreach signals India’s proactive diplomatic engagement as it seeks to protect its citizens abroad while advocating for de-escalation and stability in a region critical to global energy supplies and trade.
