India-Africa trade conference focuses on boosting ties with Chad

BENGALURU, Apr 3: The India – Africa Trade Conference 2026 was held in the city on Friday with a focus on strengthening trade and investment ties between India and African nations, particularly the Republic of Chad.

The conference, held here, brought together diplomats, policymakers, investors and business leaders to explore opportunities for bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

“The conference served as a vital platform to explore new avenues of cooperation, particularly in sectors crucial to Chad’s growth,” organisers said in a statement.

Ambassador of Chad to India, Ildjima Badda Mallot, attended the event along with Babu Attica, Honorary Trade Commissioner of the India Africa Trade Council, and Dr Asif Iqbal, President of the United Diplomatic Council.

Organisers said investors have shown interest in Chad’s pharmaceuticals and education sectors, citing growing demand for infrastructure and services.

They also highlighted continued engagement between the two sides, including a previous visit by Chad’s President, facilitated by the India Africa Trade Council and a recent MoU in education signed between the India SCO Trade Council and the Government of Chad.

“The India–Africa Trade Conference 2026 catalysed impactful partnerships, promoted cross-border investments, and positioned Chad as a strategic gateway for Indian enterprises seeking to expand across Africa,” the statement said. (PTI)
