SRINAGAR, Aug 16: The 74th Independence Day was celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm across the Kashmir valley and with strict adherence to the COVID-19 guidelines.
ANANTNAG: The main function was held at GDC Boys Khannabal where District Development Commissioner Anantnag, KK Sidha unfurled the Tricolour and addressed the participants.
The contingents of CRPF, Executive Police, IRP, District Ladies Police, Home guards and District Police Band participated but no parade was held in view of the COVID – 19 situations.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC praised the role of the frontline workers in creating mass awareness regarding COVID – 19 and combating it. He also highlighted the achievements of the district under various sectors besides effective implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes and flagship programmes .
The cultural wing of DIC Anantnag presented colourful programme on the occasion. The Frontline Workers were awarded with certificates and cash award. Also, the students who participated in various online completions regarding combating COVID-19 were awarded with certificates, mementos, Tabs, Smart Phones and Laptops as per their performance.
Among others, DIG South Kashmir, SSP Anantnag, Commandants of CRPF, IRP and officers from district Administration, ward members, Panchs and Sarpanchs and political leaders were also present on the occasion.
BARAMULLA: The main function was held in District Police Lines, where the Deputy Commissioner Dr G N Itoo unfurled the Tricolor and inspected the parade presented by the contingents of J&K Police, CRPF, BSF, Home Guards, Fire and Emergency Services among other bands.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC enlisted various achievements recorded by the district in different sectors and said that several developmental projects having great public significance, have been completed by the administration.
Later, a prize distribution ceremony was organized during which different functionaries viz COVID-19 warriors, officers, officials, best performing cultural artists, parade commanders among others were felicitated.
GOC 19 Infantry Division, DIG North Kashmir, SSP, various district and sectoral officers among others were present on the occasion.
KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner Anshul Garg unfurled the National Flag at the District Police Lines and also took salute at the March Past presented by contingents of JKP, IRP, CRPF, FPP, JK Home Guards and Police Commandos.
Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted the developmental works completed in the district. He also felicitated 300 COVID-19 Warriors and Certificates of Appreciation were given to them through concerned District Officers.
SSP, Kupwara, Shriram Ambarker; ADDC, Mohammad Ashraf Bhat; ADC, Nazir Ahmad Lone; Senior Civil, Police and Army Officers were present on the occasion.
BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza unfurled the Tricolor and took salute from the contingents of JKP, JKAP, CRPF, Auxiliary police and Home Guards at Sports Stadium.
In his address, the DC highlighted the development scenario of the district especially projects completed by various departments during the last year and other projects that are at the verge of completion besides, targets achieved under various governmental schemes.
Regarding tackling COVID-19 urgencies across the district, the DDC hailed the efforts of all concerned and appealed to the general public to strictly adhere to all SOPs besides maintaining social distancing to keep the pandemic at bay.
On the occasion, DDC also presented awards and mementos to selected officers, officials representing different organizations and departments for their meritorious service they have rendered.
PULWAMA: Deputy Commissioner Dr Raghav Langer unfurled the National Flag and took salute at parade comprising contingents from Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire and Emergency and Home Guard at DPL.
In his address, the Deputy Commissioner said that Pulwama has become synonymous with industrial growth, excellence in education, entrepreneurship and tourism. He highlighted various developmental works and achievements of the district.
Hailing the efforts of health care workers amid global pandemic, the DC appreciated the whole medical fraternity working unflinchingly as two corona warriors scarified their lives while fighting COVID-19.
The employees of various departments who have done exemplary work during COVID-19 Pandemic were awarded with certificates of appreciation and prizes. Whereas meritorious students were also felicitated who have shown exemplary performance in the field of education and sports.
ADC Altaf Ahmad Khan, ADC Tral S.A Raina, Assistant Commissioner Development, ASP Pulwama, all District Civil, Police officers, BDC Chairmen, PRI members and a large no of people were present on the occasion.
KULGAM: The main function was held at District Police Lines where Deputy Commissioner, Showkat Ajaz Bhat hoisted the National Flag and took salute at the March Past.
Speaking on the occasion, DC highlighted the efforts and measures put in place by district administration to contain COVID-19 and complimented all the departments besides PRIs, NGOs and volunteers for their efforts and proactive role from day one to contain the corona infection.
He also highlighted the developmental scenario of the district. Later an award ceremony was also held and COVID warriors were felicitated for their exemplary work.
MP Rajya Sabha, Nazir Ahmad Laway, SSP Kulgam, Gurinder Pal Singh, ADDC, Riyaz Ahamd Sofi, Commandant CRPF 18th Bn Mayank , and other senior officers and employees from Civil and police administration were present on the occasion.
SHOPIAN: The main function was held at District Police Lines where DDC Chaudhary Mohammad Yasin hoisted the National Flag, took salute and inspected the parade.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC highlighted the achievements and developmental activities under-taken by various executing agencies besides implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.
The contingents of CRPF, J&K Police, Home Guard, Forest Protection, Fire Services and Emergency, Youth Services and Sports besides, students of various schools participated in the March past.
Later a coffee-table book “SHAAN-E-SHOPIAN “was also presented & released by DDC Shopian on the occasion. Prizes and certificates of appreciation were distributed among the Officers, Official’s and students for showing best performance in various activities.
BANDIPORA: The main function was held at SK Stadium where Deputy Commissioner Dr Owais Ahmad unfurled the National Flag and took salute at the march past presented by the contingents of JK Police, JKAP, IRP 21 battalion , JK Home Guards, JKP Mahila Police, JKSPOs, JKP Band and CRPF 3rd Battalion.
Speaking on the occasion, DC highlighted the importance of the day and also paid rich tributes to the COVID warriors who worked tirelessly to fight the pandemic. He also presented a detailed report on the developmental front.
On the occasion, Deputy Commissioner also launched Nasha Mukth Bharat campaign to fight the drug menace in the district.
GANDERBAL: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Shafqat Iqbal unfurled the National Flag and took the salute during the function celebrated at Gadoora Stadium.
Speaking on the occasion, DDC highlighted various developmental achievements registered by the administration in different sectors in the district besides implementation of welfare schemes. He also highlighted the initiatives taken by the District Administration in containment of COVID-19 infection in the district.
The function concluded with distribution of prizes among COVID warriors and students who excelled in different fields.
The event was witnessed by District and Sessions Judge, Mohammad YousufWani, SSP Ganderbal, President Municipal Council Ganderbal, ADC, Farooq Ahmad Baba, BDC Chairpersons, Sarpanchs, Panchs besides various other officers and officials from Police and District Administration.
