Sir,
A meagre and paltry medical allowance of Rs. 300 per month paid to the employees and pensioners is merely a mockery and joke because of sky rocketing prices especially of the medicines. It is more so an apathy towards the pensioners who get inflicted with various kinds of diseases because of old age. It is generally thought that the old age is itself a disease. The persistent demand for increase in medical allowance by various employee organization and pensioners seem to be ignored by powers that be on the pretext of financial crunch but on the other hand it enhanced the allowance of the legislators from Rs 500 to Rs. 1000 per meeting and declared medical allowance to the tune of Rs 5000 p.m. so it is a great injustice to employees in general and to pensioners in particular. The medicines purchased for Rs 300 can’t cure even an ordinary headache not to speak of a dangerous disease. So in order to keep the scales of justice in view, the govt should give proper thought to the genuine problem and issue orders for increase in the medical allowance at least upto Rs. 1000 p.m.
Yours etc….
