RAJOURI, Aug 2: The president of the Press Council Thannamandi, Imran Khan called on Member of Parliament Rajouri-Anantnag Constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmed, and highlighted the poor and deteriorating condition of the Rajouri-Thanna-Surankote road.
During the meeting, Khan expressed serious concern over the prolonged delay in the road construction work, which has been ongoing for the past four years without completion. He further stated that not only is the work incomplete, but the quality of construction is substandard.
Citing a recent incident, Khan said that a nearby graveyard suffered significant damage due to a landslide, which he attributed to the poor execution of the roadwork. He also raised the issue of inadequate monitoring by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), alleging negligence in supervision and quality control.
MP Mian Altaf assured Khan that he had already raised the matter at various forums and reiterated his commitment to take up the issue with BRO authorities. He assured that necessary steps would be taken to expedite the completion of the road project and to ensure proper quality checks in the interest of public safety and convenience.
