UDHAMPUR, Apr 20: Ranbir Singh Pathania, MLA Udhampur East, today inaugurated macadamisation work on key PMGSY road projects, including Sundla to High School Sundla and Mahalanga to Chowgan and Sehal-Kouri-Ber roads.
With a cumulative project cost nearing Rs 2 crores, these developments mark a transformative phase in rural connectivity for the region.
Speaking at the inaugural event, Pathania expressed his unwavering commitment to making Udhampur a model of road connectivity in India. Highlighting the role of Ramnagar’s advanced road network during his previous tenure as MLA, he credited the metalling of a record number of roads under PMGSY as the driving force behind Udhampur achieving the top rank in PMGSY road connectivity across the country.
“With the generous support of the Government of India and under the able leadership of Dr Jitendra Singh, Union Minister, we are turning our vision into reality. These roads are not just about travel-they’re about transforming lives, connecting people, and unlocking the true potential of our villages,” Pathania said.
He further called for the speedy completion of key infrastructure projects including the Thial to Chountra Mata Road and the Majalta Morh to Gambir Nallah Bridge, emphasizing their importance for regional connectivity and economic upliftment.
Pathania also said that around Rs 500 crore, under PMGSY, shall be made available for further upgrading and metalling of roads across Udhampur district. This initiative, he stated, would significantly enhance mobility and access in the hilly terrain, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local populace.
The event witnessed the presence of prominent local leaders including Mohinder Sharma and Mohan Lal Sharma, both Mandal Pradhans, along with a large gathering of enthusiastic citizens who welcomed the developmental push with optimism.
Pathania concluded by reaffirming his dedication to all-round development and reiterated that connectivity is the cornerstone of progress, especially in rural and semi-urban belts like Udhampur.
