JAMMU, Feb 22: The Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has reiterated the demand for implementation of Joint Parliamentary Committee’s Report to resolve the long pending legitimate issues of DPs of 1947 from PoK having priority for reservation for their wards in both State and Central Govt services and technical institutions and also to prepare a comprehensive roadmap.
The participants during meeting at Chatha today also urged upon the incumbent Government to consider the cases of DPs who were registered outside and are settled in J&K for the last more than 60 years as they are having PRCs and their wards were also provided employment in State Govt services. The participants urged upon the incumbent Government to stress upon the Ministry of Home Affairs to release the funds for the remaining beneficiaries who have already been identified and appeared on the internet for relief assistance.
While presenting his views regarding the various problems/ difficulties raised by the participants in the meeting, Gurdev Singh, president said that JKSAC is seized of all the problems/difficulties. The attention of higher authorities have been drawn many times in this regard but unfortunately due to lack of positive mindset no adequate measures have been taken so far resulting in that the one time settlement issue have not been projected any dispensation of the state and even JPC, a high powered committee’s report has not been taken into account so far.
Stressing upon the Government to take cognizance of the issue for causing delay in disbursement of the package to thousands of remaining beneficiaries, he strongly criticized the Govt for making tall claims to complete the disbursement process in a time bound manner. He said that approximately three years have passed the disbursement process is so slow and faulty that hardly 20,000 beneficiaries including 1947, 1965 and 1971 could receive the relief assistance of Rs 5.5 lakh. The remaining more than 16,000 beneficiaries out of 36,384 are still awaiting their share of relief.
He appealed the Governor to intervene and stress upon the Ministry of Home Affair to ensure the completion of disbursement process before the end of this financial year.
