SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Police today arrested a man accused of impersonating a senior police officer in the Kokernag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
A spokesperson said the suspect, identified as Mohammad Umer Mochi of Zalangam, was intercepted at a checkpoint while attempting to flee. Police recovered a uniform bearing the rank insignia of a senior superintendent of police from his bag. “Preliminary investigation suggests the accused was using the uniform to deceive the public,” the spokesperson said.
He added that a case has been registered under relevant sections of law.
