ANANTNAG, Dec 26: Police here today claimed to have attached two immovable properties of notorious drug peddlers worth several crores.
In two separate operations, two double-storied residential properties and 10 Kanals of apple orchard land belonging to as many individuals-Sajad Ahmad Bhat and Bashir Ahmad Bhat-both residents of Waghama, Bijbehara, Anantnag, were attached under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act by separate teams of Police Station Bijbehara, a police official said.
According to him, both the properties were found to be acquired through the illicit proceeds of the drug trafficking and peddling during investigation of separate cases.
The attachments of the properties aim to deter individuals from indulging in narcotics-related activities and to safeguard the youth and society from harmful effects of drugs, said the police official.
