JAMMU, Jan 15: The 150th Foundation Day of the IMD was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Meteorological Office, Jammu today.
On the occasion, a grand program was organized at the local office of the Meteorological Department. The program was presided over by Incharge S.C. Sharma. During the program, the students of K.C. Public School and May Fair School were informed about the work being done by the Meteorological Department and various types of weather equipments used by the department.
The students showed their keen interest. Officer in charge S.C. Sharma gave information about the remarkable progress in the field of weather in the 150 years of Meteorological Department. He said that the Meteorological Department will remain dedicated to serving the nation in future also.
The Meteorological Department is providing its services in air, agriculture, marine, and many other areas of the country. There has been a significant increase in the accuracy of forecasts made by the Meteorological Department in recent years.
IMD will augment its operational and technical capabilities through ‘Mission Mausam’ launched by Prime Minister Narinder Modi in the main function held at Bharat Mandpam New Delhi on yesterday to commemorate the glorious 150 years of IMD.
