JAMMU, Mar 7: National Conference (NC) Additional General Secretary Ajay Kumar Sadhotra today called for imbibing the teachings of Guru Ravidas to build a harmonious and just society based on equality, compassion and mutual respect.
He was addressing a congregation during the 649th birth anniversary celebrations of the revered saint organised by Guru Ravidas Satsang Society Karwanda in the Jammu North Assembly Constituency.
Sadhotra said the life and message of Guru Ravidas continue to inspire humanity to strive for a social order founded on justice, brotherhood and dignity for all.
He said the teachings of the saint remain highly relevant today when society needs to reaffirm the values of love, harmony and compassion.
Highlighting the spiritual and social philosophy of the saint, he said Guru Ravidas envisioned a society free from discrimination and prejudice where people live together in peace and mutual understanding.
His message, he said, transcends barriers of caste, creed and religion and promotes an equitable social order where everyone enjoys equal opportunities.
Sadhotra urged people, particularly the younger generation, to draw inspiration from the teachings of the saint and incorporate them in their daily lives.
He said the ideals preached by great saints serve as a moral compass for building an inclusive and cohesive society where peace and understanding prevail.
On the occasion, Swami Gurdip Giri also addressed the gathering and highlighted the teachings of Guru Ravidas, emphasising devotion, humility and service to humanity.
Several speakers paid tributes to the saint and stressed the need to strengthen social unity and promote the values of brotherhood and compassion.
Sadhotra appreciated the efforts of the organisers, led by Parshotam Kumar, for holding the celebrations and bringing people together to reflect on the message of the revered saint.
