BHADERWAH, June 6: In a major crackdown on illegal timber activity, a joint team of Forest Officials and Forest Protection Force (FPF) personnel here today raided Compartment No. 5ab/N of Duggi-I Block in the Neeru Range of Bhaderwah Forest Division and seized about 223 old dry Deodar scants of various sizes.
The raiding team carried out a thorough search of the area to ensure no recent felling has taken place. Preliminary investigations indicate that the seized timber was part of an old stacked, with no fresh damage reported in the surrounding forest area.
Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Bhaderwah, Devender Kumar, stated that the investigation is ongoing and all those found responsible will face strict action under the provisions of Indian Forest Act, 1927. He emphasized the Department’s zero-tolerance policy towards forest offences.
The operation was conducted under the close coordination of DFO Bhaderwah, Devender Kumar and Deputy Director FPF, Doda, Mohinder Singh, under the overall supervision of Conservator of Forests, Chenab Circle, Arshdeep Singh.
