RAJOURI, May 14: In its fourth successful operation in less than a month against illegal cultivation opium, Rajouri police destroyed crop from a field at Challas village near Line of Control in Rajouri district.
A Police official said a specific information was received by police that a woman namely, Rubina Kouser, wife of Jahangir Ahmed, resident of village Challas in Keri Doongi has cultivated opium plants illegally in her agriculture land.
On this information, a cognizable report was entered in Police Post Chingus Chatyar under sections 8/15 NDPS Act and a team headed by IC DySP Hqr Rajouri, Chowdhary Latif along with In-charge Police Post Chingus Chatyar, SI MD Khan accompanied by Naib Tehsildar Chingus Mohammad Hanif rushed to the spot and started an operation.
After completing legal formalities on the spot, the crop was destroyed in the presence of magistrate. The accused woman was detained.
