KATHUA, June 3: Kathua police has registered a case against the non local labourers who had made their illegal entry in Kathua without undergoing test for Covid19 after crossing the Lakhanpur corridor.
This sparked tension among local industrial workers who took to streets today. The matter came into light when the local labourers working in Rattan Oil Mills, Biscuit Unit held a protest demonstration against the factory management for entertaining outside laborers who reached here yesterday from other states and were not subjected to Corona testing by the authorities.
Apprehending community transmission of the Virus a large number of local labourers working in Biscuits Manufacturing Unit came on the road and raised protest against the management who had allowed the entry of laborers from Uttar Pradesh into the factory. When the local labourers objected against their entry without undergoing Covid-19 test, the management did not respond. The local labourers asked the management to firstly quarantine these labourers and get them tested for COVID-19 otherwise they will not work in the factory and put their lives to grave risk as in the event of any member among them turning positive it will lead to community transmission of the Virus.
The local laborers said that workers drawn from Uttar Pradesh made their entry yesterday midnight without Covid19 testing. Out of them one labourer fell unconscious today and others are also not looking well. But the factory management did not listen the local labourers so they raised a protest demonstration against the management.
They demanded the Corona testing of these non local labourers. A police team led by , J P Singh incharge Police Post Hatli reached at Rattan Oil Mills Biscuit Unit to investigate the matter. The police registered a case under the FIR No 145/20 under Section 188, 269,270 violation of District Magistrate order. The ten number of non local laborers were booked under law and shall be quarantined after Covid-19 sampling. The police is further investigating the matter that how the non local labourers forced their entry and factory management was helping them to commit crime.
