JAMMU, June 28: The Central Library of IIT Jammu, in collaboration with INFLIBNET, Gandhinagar, organised a specialised regional training programme on Shodh Shuddhi/Plagiarism Detection Software (PDS) at the IIT Jammu campus.
The event aimed to promote research integrity and raise technical awareness about plagiarism detection in higher education. It witnessed enthusiastic participation from 58 ShodhShuddhi Coordinators representing various universities and institutions across Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and neighboring regions, along with several library professionals and academicians.
The programme was inaugurated by the chief guest, Manoj Kumar K Scientist-F (Computer Science), INFLIBNET, who delivered an insightful address on “Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Education Institutions.” His talk emphasized the importance of ethical research practices, originality, and the critical role of technology in upholding academic standards.
Col Virinder Singh Jeji (Retd), Registrar, IIT Jammu, also graced the occasion and encouraged participants to adopt best practices in academic research and institutional governance.
Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Dr Nilesh Kumar, Deputy Librarian, IIT Jammu, shared the inspiring journey of the institute’s library—from its humble beginnings with the first student batch in 2016 to its current status as a modern, RFID-enabled, technology-driven knowledge hub.
The sessions were highly interactive, with participants discussing practical issues related to plagiarism detection tools, implementation challenges and institutional policies.
