IIMC Jammu students top at all India level in English Journalism course

JAMMU, Jan 10: The students of 2nd batch of Jammu Centre in English Journalism have brought laurels to centre of PG Diploma Courses (2013-2014) by bagging first three positions in the course  offered by Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC), an autonomous institution of Ministry of I&B, Government of India was announced today.
The three students namely, Avantika Gupta, Kritika Joshi and Sumedha Sharma have secured 1st ,  2nd and 4th position respectively among all the six centres of IIMC across the country. Out of 12 students of Jammu centre appeared in the exams, eight have secured 1st division.  One of the students of 1st batch, namely, SugamSinghal was declared the overall topper among all the six centres of IIMC across the country during session 2012-13.
While the achievement is due to hard labour put in by students and faculty, the contribution made by the State Government in providing accommodation for institution and hostel in the heart of the city, and IIMC HQrs. for all other infrastructure / facilities like conveyance, equipment, faculty beside overall guidance has also been an added factor.
IIMC Jammu Centre is currently offering PG Diploma in English Journalism- an intensive one year programme, wherein students are exposed to Print Journalism, TV and Radio news reading through theory classes and practical with the help of latest lab equipment and well-stocked library.
Besides imparting hands-on training for newspaper production, TV and radio news production, emphasis is laid on field reporting, covering almost all the important beats of a newspaper. Equipped with modern facilities, gadgets and support of faculty members, students are sure to learn all aspects of journalism here.
