JAMMU, Jan 11: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu launched the much-awaited Winter School for students of classes 10 to 12. The program aims to engage students through learning and invoke critical and creative thinking.
Professor B S Sahay, Director IIM Jammu, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the value that the program will give to the students. He advised them to stay aware of the world around them and be updated with the current affairs.
The one-week-long program, which started yesterday, consists of five sessions with two sessions each day and is expected to conclude on January 14, 2022.
The program directors, Dr Archana Sharma and Dr Kulwinder Kaur, have carefully crafted each module to enhance the students’ learning experience and guide them in their future endeavors. The first module focuses on designing the thinking of students through reading.
Its first session, headed by Dr Muqbil Burhan, centered around ‘Design Thinking,’ and Dr Pallavi Panday explained the benefits of reading to the students in the second session.
The second module, headed by Professor Manoj Kumar and Dr Rashmi Ranjan Parida, will help the students develop data management skills and handle finances efficiently. In the third module, Dr Prateek Jain will instruct students about ongoing and upcoming start-ups, and Arup Bhattacharya will highlight the Integrated Program of Management at IIM Jammu as a career option for the students.
Dr Barnali Chaudhary will walk the participants through the importance of emotional intelligence and Dr Sumant Biswas shall talk about coping with stress and failures in the fourth module. The fifth module focuses on building social relationships, where the students will be taught the importance of knowing their personal brand by Dr Mahesh Gadekar, while Dr Baljit Singh will teach them how to build solid and rewarding social networks.
This unique initiative taken by IIM Jammu is a countermeasure against the loss of learning due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
