JAMMU, June 13: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu, an institute of national importance, has received an overwhelming response in admission of MBA for 2020-2022 batch across all the categories despite COVID-19 pandemic.
Generally, it used to be very difficult to get candidates in SC, ST, and EWS categories but response this year in these categories is humongous. Seeing the overwhelming response across categories, IIM Jammu may have to increase intake this year. Similarly, there is a huge response from the female candidates this year. Last year there was no female candidates, but this year more than 30 percent are female candidates in the MBA program.
This has been possible as the Board of IIM Jammu had decided to enhance the gender diversity. Admission in MBA program is very competitive and is done based on CAT score, academic performance, work experience, gender diversity etc. As compared to last year, candidates across different categories showed a lot of interest in MBA program at IIM Jammu.
Overwhelmed with the MBA admission response, Dr Milind Kamble, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM Jammu, said, “it is the hard work of all stakeholders associated with IIM Jammu including, the Board Members, Director, faculty members, staff, students, recruiters and support from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and the Government of J&K”.
“We would like to position IIM Jammu as an institute of ‘Job Creators and not Job Seekers’, which is very much attuned to ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ of Prime Minister”,” he said and informed that IIM Jammu is setting up Incubation Centre both at Srinagar Off-Campus and at IIM Jammu Campus to achieve the goal of self-reliance, growth and prosperity.
Prof B S Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, said that IIM Jammu strongly believes in the philosophy of nurturing and developing the best of managerial talent. “Increase in intake will help us to promote excellence in academics, research, executive education, international relations, and strong industry interface. We now plan to work harder to offer a world-class, innovative, effective learning and growth engagement to our students as well as our client organizations, leading to stronger industry connect,” he said.
IIM Jammu has also launched Ph D program this year and received tremendous response from all over the country for admission into the program. Out of hundreds of applicants, IIM Jammu has offered 8 candidates in the PhD program.
