JAMMU, June 30: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu has reached a major milestone by becoming the fifth among 21 IIMs in India to earn two top international accreditations-BGA (Business Graduates Association) and EFMD (European Foundation for Management Development)-for its MBA programme.
It is also the first among second- and third-generation IIMs to achieve both honours, marking a significant step forward in its global recognition.
A statement said the journey towards international recognition began in January 2025 when a Peer Review Team from BGA, part of the Association of MBAs (AMBA), London, visited the Institute. Click here to watch video
Over four days, it said, the team held extensive interactions with students, alumni, faculty members, corporate recruiters, and the Institute’s leadership.
They examined IIM Jammu’s academic performance, institutional governance, research impact, and commitment to ethics and social responsibility. Deeply impressed with the pace of growth and robust systems, the BGA team recommended a full five-year institutional accreditation-a rare honour usually granted to long-established global institutions, the statement said.
In March 2025, it said, the IIM Jammu underwent another rigorous assessment by EFMD for programme-level accreditation.
“The EFMD review focused on three key pillars: internationalisation, practical industry engagement, and ethics and sustainability,” the statement said.
The Peer Review Team acknowledged IIM Jammu’s dynamic curriculum, expanding global partnerships, and strong focus on responsible leadership, it said.
Following this review, the statement said, EFMD formally awarded a three-year accreditation for the Institute’s flagship MBA programme on June 17.
“These twin recognitions serve as strong endorsements of IIM Jammu’s fast rise in India’s management education landscape. The accreditations will help the Institute strengthen its international collaborations, attract high-calibre faculty and students, and position itself as a centre for responsible and impactful learning,” the statement said.
Chairman of the Board of Governors, Dr Milind Kamble, described the achievement as a reflection of IIM Jammu’s dedication to transparency, quality, and national development.
Director Prof B S Sahay termed the moment as historic, crediting the combined efforts of faculty, staff, students, and alumni.
Deans Prof Jabir Ali and Prof Nitin Upadhyay noted that the recognition reinforces IIM Jammu’s commitment to research-led, industry-aligned education.
